Tough luck strikes Johns in Spring Showdown at North Alabama Speedway
With his first planned night of racing washed out, Oakley Johns trekked to North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Ala.) on Saturday afternoon for the Coltman Farms Racing Southern All Star Series-sanctioned Spring Showdown.
In a field of 34 Super Late Models, Johns topped the charts in qualifying and would sit on the pole of the $5,000-to-win feature. On the opening lap of the 40-lap main event, a competitor made contact with Oakley that sent him spinning off the track. Johns completed four more laps from the rear before pulling in early and being scored 21st.
